Are unused wires disabled?

0 votes
I'm installing the EVO-ONE in a 2016 Subaru Impreza (standard key).  Things are working OK except for the door lock function while it's remote started.

Are the wires that are grayed out in the car installation manual disabled in the firmware?  Specifically, would A2 and A3 (Lock and Unlock) not function if I hook these outputs into the car lock/unlock wiring?  I've seen nothing get outputted on these wires and was wondering if it may be disabled elsewhere, through the firmware or an option.

Just to confirm something first.. The factory remote does not lock or unlock the doors when the car is remote started or an aftermarket remote (rf-kit) does not allow lock or unlock to function?

----------

A2 and A3 will only output from an aftermarket RF-KIT.

From this guide: https://cdn.fortin.ca/download/33021/rf642w-install-guide-33021.pdf

  • All wire the have a dedicated function will always do that function.
  • All wires indicated by "bypass config." are controlled by the vehicle specific firmware. If they were needed they would be in the install guide. They are useless otherwise

Everything in the installation guide should be connected for proper operation. All spare wiring should properly isolated/taped up.

The aftermarket (rf-kit) remote does not allow the lock or unlock function while remote started.

I originally tried by not hooking A2/A3 up but nothing happened.  I then hooked A2/A3 up and still nothing.  I then tested the output of A2/A3 (positive to 12v source and A2 to the negative side of a DMM) and I get nothing.

Another strange thing is that even though I flashed it to the latest released (non-beta) firmware in flash link, the firmware version in the EVO-ONE status web page shows version "1.20" and the recommended version is "1.23".

should definitly be some outputs on A2-A3 with an rf-kit.  These are fortin remotes?

Would be worth to do a remote start full reset after flashing 1.21 or 1.23 (this will not affect the bypass settings, only resets rmeote start options and erases currently programmed remotes).  Reseting the remote starter portion along with erasing currently programmed remotes is done like : http://cdn.fortin.ca/en/download/61941/61941.pdf   (cycle power at the end)

Little note, door locks should work off the door lock data straight form the light bleu output. If they dont, either the light blue is on the wrong side of the cut or it is not connected on the vehicles door lock data wire.

should give us a call though if none of the above gets her solved.

Thanks for the response.  I actually flipped over to the remote start portion and was able to flash to 1.23.  Now my Fortin EVO-ONE Status page actually shows my settings, whereas they didn't before.

If  you review my settings, do you see anything out of the ordinary that would give a hint on why my aftermarket (fortin 2 way) fob doesn't lock or unlock while remote started?

If not, I'll give tech support a call again tomorrow.  Thanks!
