2013 wrx Ready mode is not working, some wiring questions also

+1 vote

I recently finished installing an EVO ONE on my 2013 subaru wrx.  I also installed the compustar PRO t11 remote kit.

Quick notes about my install:

  •  I used both the wrx and sti instructions since the wrx lacked some info.
  • Hood pin is not installed and the wire is not connected to anything (i was planning on doing a hood tilt switch, i wanted to refrain from running the wires till I can confrim my remote starter works 100%)
  • Clutch bypass is not done, I was waiting for the diode to come in the mail.  I have been pressing the clutch pedal down to simulate the bypass.
  • starter 2 is hooked up through a relay as per the install instructions for the STI.
  • Turbo timer does not work, car just turns off.
  • Instructions do not call out for hand brake line to be tapped into, so this is not done.
  • Immobilizer bypass is done from a tb-box (inserted oem chip and wired up with the antenna around the ignition barrel)  Fortin employee verified I was able to do this.
  • All connections have been double checked and used t-taps for the smaller lines and hard wired for ignition harness.

I have a few questions/issues.

I cannot seem to get ready mode to work.  Per the instrctions, I am pulling up on the hand brake, releasing my foot off the brake, pressing the remote start button on the compustar, and then turning off the ignition.  When pressing the button on the remote, my parking lights flash 3 times and when turning key to off, the car turns off as well.   -Question:  Niether the wrx nor the sti install insturctions calls out for a hand brake/ebrake to be tapped into. Could this be  the reason why I my ready mode is not activating?

My remote from the compustar kit is working but does not lock/unlock/trunk release.  It only flashes my parking lights.  I cannot seem to figure out why this is the case.  When installing the remote, I had to program via method 2 from the install instructions (click valet about 3x).

When attempting to remote start I get 3x flashing which means Ready mode is not activated.  I have also switched back and froth between regular and valet mode as to double check.

Hi Ahmad, saw your email last night.

Sounds like the can-bus never actually programmed. So the module is not seeing , tach, hand brake and whatever else it needs to enable the ready mode.

You will need to test the Can wires. Super easy to do.

  • Disconnect the 5-pin white connector from the EVO-ONE.
  • Turn ignition On
  • With a multimeter set to DC voltage, test all can-bus wires directly at the 5-pin white connector of the evo-all. Tell us how much voltage is on each of the 4 wires.

Hi. Blue light flashes once when pressing lock or unlock with the new remote. When disconnecting the red connector I cannot use the factory remote to lock or unlock (nothing happens when I press the button) My service number is 002b03 033665
i know you were using two guides for the install and i am wondering if you did the security light connection that involved cutting a brown/red wire. If you did, make sure it;s the right wire or else door locks will not work while the engine is running.
I did not connect the secuirty light wire (A 17 and A18) when i did my install.  I followed mostly the old WRX install instructions (i see that there has been an update for the wrx realeased now)

Let me clarify the issue a little better.  When the car is parked and not running.  I cannot lock/unlock using the compustar or fortin RF remotes.  My oem remote still works and lets me lock/unlock the car.

While remote start is active and the car is running, I cannot lock or unlock my car using the compustar or fortin RF remote.  I CAN use my OEM remote to unlock/lock the car.

While the key is in the ignition and the car is running, the compustar/fortin/OEM remotes do not allow to lock/unlock (this is normal though and how the car functioned prior to installing the remote starter)

The only functions that work on the compustar and the Fortin RF remotes is the remote starter button.
Bump. Any more ideas?
Door locks should definitaly be functional while the engine is off. Either it's connections relating to that door lock data wire or the unit never fully programmed correctly.

While the ignition is on, door locks from the aftermarket remotes should also be functional but we are currently aware of an issue on Subaru where this is not the case.
